Certificate III in Hospitality (Operations)

You must be at least 18 years of age to enrol

The Certificate III in Hospitality (Operations) course will qualify you to undertake a range of operational activities within the Hospitality industry, often across one or more of the Hospitality functional areas. The course will also equip you with a broad range of operator skills and knowledge that you will be able to use when carrying out such responsibilities as providing technical advice and support to a team and acting as a team/shift leader.

Delivery modes

  • Individual face to face delivery at students workplace,
  • Group delivery if required at students workplace,
  • Group delivery at a hired venue if required,
  • By distance learning mode

Organisation of Delivery of Course

The qualification will be delivered and assessed as follows:

  • An initial assessment will be done for each unit to determine if RCC/RPL may apply,
  • RCC/RPL process will be commenced where applicable,
  • Any competency gap detected through the initial assessment will be discussed,
  • Training will be undertaken to address these gaps,
  • Training will be undertaken for entire units where the student is not competent,
  • Student will be assessed at either the end of training in a unit or when they wish to present themselves for assessment.
  • Assessment will be both summative and formative within each unit,
  • Assessment will be holistic where applicable.

What employment opportunities will I have?

Successful completion of the Certificate III in Hospitality (Operations) will provide you with the skills and knowledge required of a skilled operator. Employment opportunities include positions in food preparation, food and beverage service, barista service, gaming attendant, front office attendant, concierge, housekeeper, assistant in a retail/hospitality outlet.

How will I be selected for this course?

Students will be interviewed by a PSG team member before being offered a place on this course.

This course is a qualification from the Hospitality Training Package. The qualifications in this package allow for the development of Hospitality skills and knowledge for entry-level operators through to senior managers including:
- Certificate I in Hospitality (Operations)
- Certificate II in Hospitality (Operations)

- Certificate IV in Hospitality (Supervision)
