Certificate III in Retail Supervision
This course has been designed to assist you to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to enter a supervisory role. It is also designed to assist you to advance your career in Australia’s ever-expanding retail industry, allowing you to move from trainee to higher positions such as senior retail assistant or supervisor.
The course provides you with the more advanced skills such as how to operate retail information technology systems, how to produce financial reports and how to maintain and order stock.
You will also learn leadership skills to enable you to coordinate work teams, implement staff training and maintain employee relations.

Organisation of Delivery of Course
The qualification will be delivered and assessed as follows:
- An initial assessment will be done for each unit to determine if RCC/RPL may apply,
- RCC/RPL process will be commenced where applicable,
- Any competency gap detected through the initial assessment will be discussed,
- Training will be undertaken to address these gaps,
- Training will be undertaken for entire units where the student is not competent,
- Student will be assessed at either the end of training in a unit or when they wish to present themselves for assessment.
- Assessment will be both summative and formative within each unit,
- Assessment will be holistic where applicable.
What employment opportunities will I have?
The retail industry is one of Australia’s largest and is constantly expanding. On completion of this course, you will be eligible for employment in the field of retail operations, in positions such as senior retail assistant or supervisor.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
After this course, you will be able to continue on to study the Certificate IV in Retail Management.
How will I be selected for this course?
You need to have completed the Certificate II in Retail Operations plus the unit WRRS1B Sell products and services, or have sufficient retail employment experience to equate to the above or indicate likely success at this level of qualification.
A job role that involved the demonstrated application of the above competencies over an extended period, typically in the order of two years, would be a satisfactory indicator.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and the how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.
