Crowd Control Refresher Training

Important Notice

Worksafe Victoria recently released a Guide for Crowd Control at Venues and Events that clearly spells out the obligations on employers (crowd control agencies, venues and events) to provide crowd controllers with regular training in:

• diffusing potentially violent situations
• restraining or detaining patrons

PSG has designed a course to help employers meet the OH & S training requirements for crowd controllers in Victoria.

What is the name of the course?

The refresher program is based on the nationally recognised unit of competency PRSSO316A Control Persons Using Empty Hand Techniques.  Competent students will receive a statement of attainment after concluding course training and assessment.

What Skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain the skills necessary to safely work as a crowd controller including: Identify the need to use empty hand techniques; Apply defensive techniques; Isolate subject and; Evaluate response.

How will I be selected for this course?

You must have sufficient mobility to kneel and conduct defensive techniques.

What costs and other fees should I expect?

The cost of the training is $175 per individual or $95 per person for groups of 5 or more.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given information on these processes.

What will I study?

You will study modules required to meet the FULL training requirement for both a guarding and crowd control license.
