  • Diploma of Hospitality
  • Diploma of Events
  • Diploma of Retail Managemet

Eligible applicants for a Victorian Government funded Diploma course will receive FREE security training.

Day Course:

$800

15 days including one weekend 9 am - 5 pm

Evening course:

$900

16 nights 5 pm - 10 pm

Plus three weekends

9 am - 5 pm

Organisation of Delivery of Course

  • An initial assessment will be done for each unit to determine if RPL or Credit Transfer may apply
  • Credit Transfer and/or RPL process will be commenced where applicable
  • Any competency gap detected through the initial assessment will be discussed
  • Training will be undertaken to address these gaps
  • Training will be undertaken for entire units where the student is not competent
  • Student will be assessed at either the end of training in a unit or when they wish to present themselves for assessment
  • Assessment will be both summative and formative within each unit
  • Assessment will be holistic where applicable

Course Duration

Students attend a 128 hour full time course to satisfy the Victoria Police minimum level entry requirements for unarmed security guards and crowd controllers.

The course is delivered at PSG's training facility at 35 Hancock Street, Southbank VIC 3007.

What employment opportunities will I have?

On successful completion of the security licence training course and successfully obtaining your security license you could gain employment with organisations providing crowd control services at venues and/or major social and sporting events. You could also gain employment as a static or mobile guard on a range of client premises.

What Skills will I have when I complete this security licence training course?

You will gain the skills necessary to safely work in the security industry including: Occupational Health and Safety, First Aid, Communication Skills, Basic Computer Skills, Team Work, Interpretation of Legal and Procedural Requirements, How to respond to a security risk situation.

How will I be selected for this security license training course?

Undertake and pass a Level 2 Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment. An LLN support plan will be developed for students who do not pass the LLN assessment

IELTS test score of 5.0 average or higher (overseas students only)
Be at least 18 years of age or older

What costs and other fees should I expect?

The cost of the combined course including first aid training is $800 for day course and $900 for evening course (Melbourne Metro).  Eligible applicants for a Victorian Government subsidised Diploma course will receive a refund for the cost of their security licence training course.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment will include written, oral and practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given information on these processes.
