This course is designed to further enhance skills and to meet licensing requirements.  All crowd controller licence holders MUST complete this course in the second year of holding their licence.

Students must possess, or must obtain at the conclusion of training, at least 3 months work experience in the security industry before the Certificate will be issued.

As part of its Skilling Australia for the future initiative, the government recognises the importance of nationally endorsed training in assisting job seekers to acquire skills and gain lasting employment and assisting existing workers to update or upgrade their skills.

The government has allocated 450,000 training places over four years to ensure that Australians develop the skills that industry needs. The training places will be delivered in an industry-driven system, ensuring that training is more responsive to the needs of enterprises and individuals.  The training places will be available from 1 April 2008.

Of the total training places, 175,000 will be allocated to job seekers.

The Certificate III in Security Operations is a funded qualification.

What employment opportunities will I have?

The Certificate III in Security Operations is a mandatory licensing requirement for Crowd Controllers in Victoria.

What Skills will I have when I complete this course?

This certificate further develops security officers skills in leadership, monitoring and controlling security incidents.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

PRS40103 Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management.

How will I be selected for this course?

Victorian student must hold a Certificate II in Security Operations and a security licence.

You must have sufficient mobility to kneel and conduct EAR and CPR for the First Aid assessment and underatke a language, literacy and numeracy assessment.

Applicants must be 18 years or older at the time of enrolment.

International students only: IELTS Band 5.0 (average) or highe

 

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and the how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.

Language, literacy and numeracy assistance

Students who require assistance with language, literacy or numeracy should contact PSG for advice on 1300 880 460.  Students may be required to undergo language, literacy and/or numeracy tests before enrolment is accepted.
