Diploma of Event Management
This qualification is designed for application across a range of industries particularly tourism,
hospitality and sport and recreation. It reflects the role of an event or meetings manager who is
responsible for the overall organisation and management of events.
This role may be applicable to
an independent event organiser or a person working in a role in a convention centre, hotel,
restaurant, reception house or sporting venue. Learners undertaking this qualification choose a
tourism/hospitality leaning or a sport and recreation leaning dependant on their interest or job role.
To achieve this qualification, learners must complete:
• twenty-one (21) core units from Tourism/Hospitality and
• eleven (11) stream units; and,
• eight (8) elective units.

How will I be selected for this course?
You must:
- have successfully completed programs in Tourism/Hospitality at Certificate III and IV level or hold an equivalent qualification
OR
- have an Year 12 Certificate or equivalent qualification
OR
be able to demonstrate equivalent competencies as a result of paid or unpaid work experience

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given information on these processes.
