The first Security RTO to be awarded Contract for the Productivity Places Program

PSG Australia announced on 18 April 2008, that it was the first security RTO in Melbourne to receive a contract from the Australian Government for delivery of the Productivity Places Program.  Eligible applicants may now undertake fully funded training in the Certificate II in Security Operations and Certificate III in Security Operations qualifications at PSG Australia.  More details on the program are available from PSG Australia by calling 1300 880 460.

Productivity Places Program

As part of its Skilling Australia for the future initiative, the government recognises the importance of nationally endorsed training in assisting job seekers to acquire skills and gain lasting employment and assisting existing workers to update or upgrade their skills.

The government has allocated 450,000 training places over four years to ensure that Australians develop the skills that industry needs. The training places will be delivered in an industry-driven system, ensuring that training is more responsive to the needs of enterprises and individuals.  The training places will be available from 1 April 2008.

Of the total training places, 175,000 will be allocated to job seekers.

The Certificate III in Security Operations is a funded qualification.

If you are looking for work, the Australian Government will fully fund training under the Program.

To be eligible for a training place, you need to be currently looking for work. You also need to be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident of Australia and be over the age of 15. Some other eligibility

criteria apply, this is available from your local training organisation or employment service provider.

You also need to be assessed by your employment service provider or training organisation as having capacity to benefit from the training.

PSG Australia was one of 20 private RTO's to partcipate in the joint ACPET/DEST Reframing the Future project.

The ACPET 2007 project focus is the development of skills to implement the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF 2007) introduced on 1 July 2007 .  This is an issue that is of great interest to ACPET members. The project involves three States: VIC, TAS & WA through three National Teleconferences and three State Focus Groups. PSG Australia's Paul Simmons, pictured below, represented the company for the project.

The second VIC State Focus Group met at the ACPET Melbourne office on Tuesday 18 September as part of the Reframing the Future Project.  We were delighted to welcome Jan Mulcahy VRQA VET Registration Manager, who gave an overview of the new auditing systems currently being introduced, an update on the progress and was very pleased to answer questions on particular issues experienced by the RTO’s.

One of the overall aims of the project is to produce an AQTF 2007 Frequently Asked Questions report

which will be available to our members on the ACPET website in early December 2007.
